Toady!

We made our scrapbook today. We manily focus on neglect, abuse, hoarding, the wildfires, animal testing, and yup. It is really fun. we have like the smallest little area, and I am kind of claustraphobic, so I dont like to spend a lot of time there. We decorated it with pictures from the wild animal park and animal abuse pictures. thats the only downside to this. sometimes the pictures are pretty gory.

Today!!! : )

Today we went to the Grommers school. It was a really hot day, and the backseat of the car smell like BO from the people who used it last. The school is really good looking and it was hard to belive that it was one of the worst schools in San Diego a couple years ago. The studets were really nice and the campus looked great. I learned a lot, like that the school board of education is kind of mean. I mean they had this great principal, and they took him away! How mean is that! GRRRRR!

Diaper Drive

Today we went to target to do a diaper drive. My group was Shannon, David, Carlos, and Joe. We got a lot of diapers, but we got even more cash donations. But sadly we got incorrect information and we thought that we could not accept that, so we turned down a lot of people! The items we collected included some binkeys, two care packages that included lotion and baby shampoo, three things of wipes and like 200 diapers. People were fairly enthusiastic about it, but a lot of people just lowered their heads and walked by. Our system was that me ad Shanon would stand behind the table and yell out things, and hope to attract people. The moral of the story is this, next time you see some kids who are holding some kind of drive, take the time and look at the booth.

Lions Tigers and Bears Oh MY!

Today we went to the wild animal park to help them plant these acacia trees that will later on be used to feed the animals. First we had this really long, but very educational presentation on the plants and animals that were affected by the fire. Did you know that after a fire, you should not walk on the burned ground because it can create a permanent trail. The we loaded into those cool trucks that they use in the photo safaris and we drove up to the spot. We saw a whole bunch a Indian RHINOS, IN THE AREA THAT THE TRAM DOES NOT GET TO SEE! SO WE KIND OF GOT TO GO BEHIND THE SCENES! Sorry, I accidentally hit the caps lock button. I kind of got a sunburn! Which i good because I am trying to tan! We planted like 4 little acacia trees! I hope they stay there! We put these deer guards up. They are made up of the same things that PVC pipes are made out of. Except that they don't have this chemical in them and without this chemical, the fence breaks down after a while cause of the sun light. So by the time that the plant is big enough to not get trouble from deer, the fence is gone! Isn't that a smart idea?

Yesterday

Yesterday started out crazy! When I came in the classroom 20 kids were running around screaming. In other words, we were making gift bags for people with aids. It was fun. Then we piled in our cars and went off to the center. The center is a safe haven for GLBT people. We met with this lady and she gave us a tour of the center. Then she sat us down and gave a really long talk about all that stuff. This transexual guy ( F to M ) and that was pretty cool. I learned that a lot of homeless people are GLBT. The we went to Balboa Park to eat lunch. We rolled down this big hill. Then we went to the special delivery place, and they talked to us and gave us our routes. When we did our routes, we met this old man who had almost died from aids three times, and to repay god for what he did, he beacame a eterniy for free. And he has never lost a case! Then we wnt back. that was a fun day.

The Landfill

Tpday we went to the landfill. I went there once before, in 7th grade. I was smelly. This time though, it really made me be pyshced to be a part of this city, because we really have a good system for this, and the people that work there are very passionate about what they do. The trash people are not just trash people. They are realy smart. Also, it is cool how the inmates from the prisons come in and help out. It provides them with some work and money!
